Q4 : What should be done in case of Brain Attack?

A4:
The moment a patient is diagnosed with any of the above mentioned symptoms, he/she should be immediately shifted to a hospital without delay. The hospital should be equipped with emergency imaging facilities like CT Scan / MRI and a dedicated Brain Attack / Stock team consisting of Neurologists, Cardiologists & intensivists. The canter should be having the facility of thrombolysis, which is a special treatment to dissolve the clot in the brain. This treatment is to be provided within 3 hours for most of the patients and within 6 hours to selected patients leading to opening of blood bessels and complete or partial reversal of symptoms. Because this treatment is time specific, it is important to shift the patient to a fully equipped Stroke centre without any waste of time. Besides this if patient is having convusion he/she should be put in lateral position without trying of force things in mouth. An unconscious person should not be fed from mouth as the food/liquid may go into the airway and cause blockage. In the hospital patient is treated with drugs like aspirin, drugs to lower pressure inside the brain, ant blood pressure drugs and physiotherapy.
