Your body needs at least 6 months to recover from Jaundice. This time is needed by the liver to regain its efficacy. Routine tests are done to check the working of the liver and the enzymes that are created by them. This type of jaundice known as physiologic jaundice.

There is another type of jaundice that comes up on a baby’s second or third day of life and disappears on its own within two weeks. In premature babies, it peaks at 5 to 7 days and may take up to two months to go away.

Jaundice is not just a disease, but a clinical symptom that indicates the presence of a few underlying medical problems. Jaundice is the yellow color discoloration, which is the representation of increased serum bilirubin.

The problem behind jaundice may vary from mild liver cell damage to hemolysis. The only sensible thing to do is to make sure that you are treating the cause rather than the problem. A few of the problems that cause jaundice are curable.

Newborn jaundice due to ABO blood group incompatibility can be cured by its own. At the same time, there are conditions such as cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis which cause permanent and recurring jaundice.

  • Healthy and Balanced Diet
  • Focus on a healthy and balanced diet. One of the good ways to keep the liver healthy is to make sure that you are eating healthy.
  • Hand washing-Wash your hands properly before taking food or water. Remember this especially after the use of the public toilet. Door handles and taps of public toilet tend to carry the most disease-causing agents.
