Paras Blood Bank at Paras HMRI hospital, Patna has recently added one more advanced machine termed as Galileo creating one more advancement in its arsenal of automated transfusion machines. It is one of its kind of advanced automated blood transfusion machine in the region of Bihar & Patna. Paras HMRI hospital proudly unveiled the inauguration of this machine on the 13th of July ushering in a new possibility for patients who require blood transfusion.
There have been rapid technological advances in blood banking over the past decade with an increasing emphasis on quality and safety of blood products. The conventional techniques of blood transfusion has given way to newer techniques. These new technologies require automated blood transfusion machines for immunohematology tests in the blood bank and Galileo is such an automated transfusion machine. Automation of Galileo would therefore improve the objectivity and reproducibility of tests. It reduces human errors in patient identification and transcription errors. Documentation and traceability of tests, reagents and processes and archiving of results is another major advantage of automation. Shifting from manual methods to automation is a major undertaking for any transfusion service to provide quality patient care with lesser turnaround time.
On this occasion Dr Jawed GM Operations at Paras HMRI added “We at Paras Blood Bank always follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) & our transfusion medicine department sports some of the most important machines that any blood bank in this region has.
