Srinagar, February 4 – Paras Health Superspeciality Hospital, Srinagar, organized a cancer awareness program to educate people about early detection, prevention, and treatment options. The event included an interactive session between doctors and patients, focusing on raising awareness and supporting cancer fighters.

As part of the initiative, the hospital celebrated “Umeed Ke Sitare”, honoring the strength and resilience of cancer survivors. Expert oncologists at Paras Health emphasized a holistic approach to cancer care, including advanced treatments, pain management, and palliative care for comprehensive support.

Key Highlights of the Program:

  • 1917 cancer cases treated, with 415 surgeries and 1424+ chemotherapy sessions completed at the hospital.
  • Many cancers are preventable, especially those linked to tobacco use.
  • Early detection is crucial in improving survival rates.
  • The hospital conducted free screenings, motivational sessions, and celebrations for survivors.

Dr. Sheikh Zahoor Ahmad, Associate Director of Surgical Oncology, highlighted that cancer is no longer just an age-related disease, as more cases are being diagnosed in people in their 40s and 50s. He stressed the importance of timely medical intervention for better survival outcomes.

Additionally, Paras Health launched a quit smoking campaign to encourage people to adopt healthier lifestyles. Over 200 people participated in the awareness session.
