Patna, 24 February 2018: Paras HMRI Hospital, Raja Bazaar, Patna proves its mettle by successfully carrying out bariatric surgery of a woman living in Singapore. The woman who originally hails from Bhojpur, Bihar weighed 90 kgs and wanted to get the surgery done because of being overweight. The 36 yo woman’s husband works in Singapore.

Dr UP Singh, specialist, hospital’s bariatric surgery, said, “Before getting the surgery done at Paras HMRI Hospital, the woman got to know that the cost of surgery in Singapore was 5 times more than that of Patna. She then decided to contact Paras HMRI Hospital and got admitted to the hospital on 19 February. The surgery was carried out on 20 February and she was discharged on 24 February. She will return to Singapore on 28 February.” He further added, “Hospitals in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata charge 2.5 times more than what we charge at Paras. Hence, it has become convenient for people to get treatment done in their hometown. The woman had also contacted Apollo Hospital but to no avail. Women in the present times have grown conscious of their health and looks and come to us alone to get bariatric surgery done. Earlier the principal of a private school in Patna had got a bariatric surgery done at Paras HMRI Hospital. Before the operation she weighed 150 kgs, which was reduced to 100 kgs. He said, “It takes almost 12-18 months to reduce weight post operation. The 50 yo school principal has not completed 18 months of surgery yet. She will soon start losing more weight. She belongs to West Bengal and preferred getting the surgery done at Paras to Kolkata because of its reasonable rates.
