Obesity and high blood pressure are high-risk factors for Kidney Disease. Maintaining a balanced and a healthy weight by exercising and choosing the diet rich with fruits and vegetables is essential. Also getting the right treatment for high blood pressure may also reduce your chances of getting this disease. Only a few specific genes responsible for increasing the risk of kidney cancer have been found, and few have been linked to specific genetic syndromes.
Risk Factors for Kidney Cancer:
- Smoking and Tobacco Use: – Both are most responsible for increasing the risk of developing kidney cancer. Tobacco use causes about 30% of kidney cancers in men and about 25% in women.
- Gender: -Men are 2 to 3 times more likely to develop kidney cancer than women.
- Race: – Black people have high risks of kidney cancer.
- Age: – Kidney cancer is generally found in adults and is usually diagnosed between the ages of 50 and 70.
- Nutrition and weight:-Studies have often shown a related link between kidney cancer and obesity, which is generally caused by many years of eating a high-fat diet.
- High blood pressure:- Men with high blood pressure may be more likely to develop kidney cancer.
- Exposure to cadmium:-Few researchers have shown a connection with exposure to the metallic element cadmium and kidney cancer.
- Long-term dialysis:-People who have been on dialysis for a long time may develop cancerous cysts in their kidneys.
- The family history of kidney cancer patients:-People with relatives with kidney cancer, like parents, brothers, sisters, children, have an increased risk of the disease.
