As Indians we usually avoid going to a doctor for consultation. We try to treat any health issue through self medication, blissfully unaware that the clock might be ticking and we might be heading towards a complicated situation. It is advised that we keep a check on our self. Refer to the list of warning signs for Cancer; if you are experiencing any two of the same, it’s TIME to refer a consultant:

The seven warning signs of cancer

To remember the seven early warning signs of cancer, think of the word CAUTION:

Change in bowel or bladder habits.

A sore that does not heal.

Unusual bleeding or discharge.

Thickening or lump in the breast, testicles, or elsewhere.

Indigestion or difficulty swallowing.

Obvious change in the size, color, shape, or thickness of a wart, mole, or mouth sore.

Nagging cough or hoarseness.

Regular Check up for Cancer

The following symptoms may also signal the presence of some form of cancer:

  • Coughing-up blood
  • Persistent headaches
  • Unexplained loss of weight or appetite
  • Chronic paining bones
  • Persistent fatigue, nausea, or vomiting
  • Persistent low-grade fever, either constant or intermittent
  • Repeated instances of infection

Cancer & Preventive Heath Check:

It’s important that every individual goes for cancer screening to detect cancer early. It aims to detect cancer before symptoms appear. This may involve blood tests, urine tests, other tests, or medical imaging. The benefits of screening in terms of cancer prevention, early detection and subsequent treatment must be weighed against any harms.

Cancer screening can help protect health through early detection, even if you don’t have any symptoms of the disease. Simple screening tests look for particular changes and early signs of cancer before it has developed or before any symptoms emerge.

Early diagnosis can increase chances of survival. But improving survival rates is not just down to earlier diagnosis – ensuring patients receive the most effective and appropriate treatment for them is also an important part of the jigsaw.
