The urinary tract is the drainage system of our body for removal of urine out of the body. Urine comprises of wastes & water. The urinary tract contains our ureters, bladder, and kidneys. However, on numerous occasions, the urinary tract can get infected and cause havoc. These infections or issues can be classified as Urological Diseases.

Urological diseases describe several kinds of conditions relevant to filtering & excretion of the urine, out of our body. The diseases can affect both males and females & children too at any age. Urological diseases or conditions involve bladder control problems, urinary tract infections, prostate issues and kidney stones. Few urological conditions only last for a short time whereas others last longer.

Tips for Urological Health Issues

These diseases affect specific body parts. I females, they include the urinary tract whereas, in males, they affect urinary tract or reproductive organs.

Other common urological conditions include: –

  • Bladder cancer
  • Prostate cancer,
  • Bladder prolapse
  • Erectile dysfunction or ED
  • Hematuria or blood in urine
  • Overactive bladder
  • Interstitial cystitis also is known as painful bladder syndrome
  • Prostatitis or swelling of prostate gland

Tips for Improving Our Urological Health

Below are some good tips to have good urological health for both adults and children:-

  • We should stay hydrated
  • Restrict the quantity of salt & caffeine that we consume
  • Drink cranberry juice for helping the prevention of UTIs or Urinary tract infection
  • Leading a smoke-free lifestyle
  • Staying within the healthy weight range at all ages in our life
  • Strengthening our muscles of pelvic part with the Kegel exercises
  • Restricting fluid consumption during the night hours
  • Encouraging children for urinating immediately before going to bed
  • Purchasing athletic cups for the young boys for helping to prevent injuries
  • Instructing young girls that they shall be using the front-to-back movement for wiping the genital area after using the washroom.

It is important to remember that we are the best advocates for our own urological health. We shall schedule regular checkups with our doctor & always ensure to report any noticeable symptoms that we develop.
